As part of the Mahoosuc Land Trust's Outdoor Day on October 1, I painted at its Valentine Farm preserve.

I chose a view of a small forested hill beyond a sunlit cornfield.  As an experiment, I left my brushes in the box and applied my paint with a couple of palette knives.   This led me to approach the painting as an exercise in hitting color notes.

This little uncomplicated 10 by 8 oil on canvas is the result.
